Tell Thurrock Council to come clean over missing millions

To: Thurrock Council

Thurrock Council has been accused of misusing half a billion pounds of taxpayers’ money, while £138 million remains seemingly unaccounted for.

Through a series of secretive deals, Thurrock Council is believed to have invested a staggering £665 million into businessman Liam Kavanagh’s ventures over the course of four years.

The cash - which the council obtained through a bizarre process of borrowing from over 150 other local authorities - was used to buy dozens of solar farms more than a hundred miles away.

Local representatives such as Cllr John Kent have long raised concerns over the council’s Borrowing and Investment strategy but “have been stonewalled, ignored, falsely reassured, fobbed off and misled.

We, including local residents, deserve to know the truth.”
